How to sync lyric lines with music manually
Use the actual uploaded audio, mark phrase starts and ends, choose a clip and verify saved lyric timing in the current browser editor.

1. Select your target passage and set duration boundaries
Begin by uploading an authorized audio file (MP3, WAV, M4A, or AAC). Use the playhead slider or time presets to designate a 15-second or 30-second passage that captures the core hook or climax of your track. If your audio track is shorter than 15 seconds, the full file is automatically selected.
Establishing your clip boundaries before fine-tuning individual timestamps ensures that you do not waste time timing sections of the song that will not be included in your final video cut.
2. Structure lyrics: One distinct phrase per row
Paste your lyrics into the editor. As an initial baseline, the application spaces rows evenly across your chosen time segment. This provides an organized starting structure, but it does not represent automatic audio transcription or beat alignment.
Read through each line and ensure it reflects a natural vocal breath or phrasing break. Breaking complex sentences into concise segments of three to seven words improves visual cadence and viewer readability.
3. Anchor phrase start and end timestamps
Press play and follow along with the audio. As the singer starts a vocal phrase, pause and click "Mark start" on the corresponding lyric row. Let the phrase play through to its conclusion, pause, and click "Mark end".
You can also directly edit the numeric second fields to shave off tenths of a second. Replay the passage and observe the visual highlight in the browser preview. The goal is to have the text emerge slightly ahead of or precisely with the vocal attack.
4. Save, review, and understand browser timing limits
Watch for the "Saved" indicator in the editor toolbar. Draft changes are stored in real-time in both browser local state and persistent Cloudflare D1 storage. If you make edits across multiple tabs, the system detects version discrepancies and prompts you to reload to prevent overwriting.
MDN Web Docs notes that browser audio clocks (HTMLMediaElement.currentTime) operate with variable precision depending on operating system scheduling and privacy protections. Do not rely on unverified decimal precision—your own ear remains the definitive benchmark for rhythm and timing.
